We wanted to design a home you’d actually want to live in full-time, inside an 8-by-24-foot footprint. And keep it road legal, like any THOW must be. The hard part is fitting everything in without ending up with something that feels like a cramped hallway. Here in the Pacific Northwest, where gray skies can last for months, a small home with small windows gets dark and closed-in fast.
We designed the Pacifica, an 8x24 tiny home lots of windows that bring the outside in. We have twelve windows, including two 4x4 view windows. It also uses a sliding glass door for the main entrance. That's about 40 square feet of glass to bring in enough light even on an overcast day. The interior is made almost completely out of natural wood finishes with hardwood highlights, so it feels cozy too. There's a mini split for heating most of the year and cooling in the two or three weeks in August that top 80 degrees. The metal roof is practically indestructible and will last for years.
The result is a tiny home that feels bright and open on the inside and holds up to the PWN weather on the outside.
