Case study: ADU

The Challenge

The client had an old shop building with ancient siding, no insulation, no plumbing and an electrical system from before the signing of the declaration of independence. There was also a concrete stairway to a basement that was open to the air and drove water into the basement area.

The Solution

We completely refurbished the building, installed a new electrical system, connected water and septic, reframed where necessary, installed new windows, insulation, and a new bathroom. To solve the problem of the basement stairway, we extended the building 8' over the stairs to enclose it. We added a cozy pellet stove, a sink and counter. The building can now function as a large single room ADU, or a man cave.
